David Alexander Clarke Jr. (born August 21, 1956) is an American former law enforcement official who served as Sheriff of Milwaukee County, Wisconsin from 2002 to 2017. In 2002, Clarke was appointed to the position by Republican Governor Scott McCallum. Led out by namesake and former movie stuntman Dave Clark (on drums!), Mike Smith (vocals/keyboards), Lenny Davidson (lead guitar), Rick Huxley (bass) and Denis Payton (sax, plus rhythm guitar and harmonica), the quintet were on the crest of a wave after hitting the top of the charts in early ’64 with the thumpin’/stompin’ beats of `Glad All Over’; follow-up `Bits And Pieces’ also hit the Top 10.
